13th National Voters Day (NVD) 2023 celebrated on 25 January: The Nation will celebrate the 13th National Voters Day (NVD) on 25 January 2023. This day marks the foundation of the Election Commission of India (ECI). The theme for National Voters Day 2023 is Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure.” To create awareness of this day, the ECI will organize a function in New Delhi. President of India Smt. Draupadi Murmu will be the Chief Guest of the function. Union Minister for Law and Justice Shri Kiren Rijiju will address the function as the Guest of Honour.

13th National Voters Day (NVD) 2023 celebrated on 25 January: Key Points

  • President Draupadi Murmu will present the National Awards for the Year 2022 during the event.
  • National Awards for the Best Electoral Practices for the year 2022-23 will also be awarded on the State and District level officers to mark the occasion.
  • A song “Main Bharat Hoon- Hum Bharat Ke Matdata Hain” produced by the Election Commission of India will also be screened in the event.
  • On the occasion, a 1st copy of the ECI publication “Electing the first President- An Illustrated Chronicle of India’s Presidential Elections” will be presented to the President by the Chief Election Commissioner of India Shri Rajeev Kumar.
  • It gives the highlight of the historic journey of Presidential Elections in the country. 
  • Dedicated to the voters of the country, the National Voters’ Day is also used to facilitate enrolment of voters, specially the newly eligible young voters.
  • The new voters would also be felicitated and handed over their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

  • The logo is designed to showcase festivity and inclusivity of the electoral process,
  • The Logo consists of Ashoka Chakra in the background which represents largest Democracy in the world while the inked finger represents the participation of each voter in the country.
  • The tick mark in the logo represents for informed decision making by the voter.

History of National Voters Day

  • The 1st National Voters Day (NVD) was celebrated on 25 January 2011 to mark the foundation day of the “Election Commission of India” which was established on 25 January 1950.
  • Since then, the Indian Government decided to organize National Voters Day on 25 January every year across the nation.
  • The main purpose for celebrating National Voters Day is to create awareness amongst the citizens and encourage them to participate in the electoral process.
  • Dedicated to the voters of the country, the National Voters’ Day is also used to facilitate enrolment of voters, specially the newly eligible young voters.
