95th Academy Awards 2023: It was a historical day for Indian cinema industry as two Indian films won the Oscars in the recently concluded 95th Academy/ Oscar Awards 2023 in their respective categories . The first Oscar goes to the Telugu blockbuster movie RRR’s “Naatu Naatu” song for Best Original Song category .The song was written by Keeravaani and lyrics by Chandrabose. The second Indian film awardee is the Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga’s Netflix documentary short film “The Elephant Whisperers” for Best Short Documentary Film category.
Earlier, The “Naatu Naatu” song also won in the “Golden Globe Awards 2023” for Best Original Song. “The Elephant Whisperers” follows the family from Tamil Nadu’s Mudumalai Tiger Reserve who end up adopting two orphan baby elephants.

95th Academy Awards 2023:Some Highlights
- The 95th edition of the Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles (USA) on 12 March 2023.
- Indian Actress Deepika Padukone was present at the Oscars 2023. She became the 3rd Indian to present an Oscar after Persis Khambatta in 1980 and Priyanka Chopra in 2016.
- The America Sci-Fi film “Everything Everywhere all at Once” won the most nominations (11) in the ceremony and also won 7 awards out of 11.
- Two Indian film bagged the Oscars in this year’s edition in their respective categories.
- The first Oscar won by the “Naatu Naatu” song which earlier also won in the “Golden Globe Award 2023” held in January. The song was composed by M. M. Keeravani, with lyrics by Chandrabose and recorded by Rahul Shipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. The song was shot at the Mariinskyi Palace (Ukraine).
- The second Oscar won by the short film “The Elephant Whisperers” in the Best Documentary Short Film category. The 41-minute short film is directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga. 95th Academy Awards 2023.
