Clare Lombardelli Appointed as Next OECD Chief Economist: Treasury Advisor of the United Kingdom (UK) Clare Lombardelli has been appointed as the next Chief Economist of the “Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) with effect from 2 May 2023. She will replace Laurence Boone of France who has held the post since 2018.

- Claire Lombardelli is a British Economist who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University. She was holds a Master’s degree in Economics from London University.
- She started her career as an Chief Economist at the England Bank and worked under the British Government since 2005.
- She has also worked in various posts including Principal Private Secretary to the Chancellor, Private Secretary for Economic Affairs to the Prime Minister and Budget Director.
- She has worked as a technical adviser for the International Monetary Fund.
- She has 20 years of experience in economic analysis and the policy-making in the United Kingdom.
- A recruitment process for Clare’s replacement will be set out shortly by the Treasury.
