Adar Poonawalla gets 1st Patangrao Award: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the “Serum Institute of India” (SII) Mr. Adar Poonawalla conferred with the 1st Dr. Patangrao Kadam Memorial Award for his contribution to fight against the Covid-19. The event was held at the Bharti Super Specialty Hospital at Bharati Vidyapeeth in Pune. Serum Institute of India (SII) is the largest Vaccine manufacturer in India.

Adar Poonawalla gets 1st Patangrao Award: Some Highlights

  • Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis handed over the award to Adar Poonawalla. He also praised Mr. Poonawalla by saying that the entire is proud of him.
  • He said that during the pandemic, nation showed the strength to fight against Covid-19 with the help of SII’s vaccine.
  • The event was also facilitated by Chief of the National Congress Party Sharad Pawar and the newly elected Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.
  • Patangrao Kadam was a leader who founded 190 institutes to deliver education and generate quality human resources.
  • Patangrao Kadam was an Indian politician and a congress leader hails from the state of  Maharashtra. He was the founder of Bharati Vidyapeeth.

  • Serum Institute of India (SII) is one of the largest Biopharmaceuticals company in India that deals with the vaccine manufacturer. It is based in Pune.
  • It is the world’s largest manufacturer of vaccines. It was founded in 1966 by Cyrus Poonawalla and is a part of Cyrus Poonawalla Group.
  • Adar Poonawalla is the son of Cyrus Poonawalla who was the founder of SII and also the Chairman and Managing Director (MD) at that time.
