Ambedkar Jayanti 2023: On the grand occasion, the Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao has unveiled the 125-feet tall bronze statue of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedakar near the famous Hussain Sagar Lake, Hyderabad to mark his 132nd Birth anniversary on 14 April 2023. The Ambedkar statue stands next to the State Secretariat , opposite to the statue of Buddha and located beside the Telangana Martyr Memorial will motivate every Telangana people. The statue is the tallest of Ambedkar in the country. Ambedkar’s grandson Prakash Ambedkar was invited as the Chief Guest at the event.
According to the CM of Telangana, the statue is 125-feet tall and 45.5 feet in width made of bronze medal and is built at a cost of 145-150 crores.

Ambedkar Jayanti 2023: Key Highlights
- According to some reports, the Chief Minister recently held a meeting with his ministers and other officials to discuss the inauguration of the statue.
- In that meeting, it was decided that petal of flowers will be showered by the helicopters on the statue and further said that the inauguration will be held on a grand scale and the entire Telangana people and the nation celebrate the occasion in a big manner.
- The statue unveiled is the tallest statue in the country, made of over 360 tonnes of steels and 100 tonnes of bronze and cost around Rs. 145 crores.
- The statue was erected by the renowned sculptures Ram Vanji Sutar and his son Anil Ram Sutar who previously designed several monumental sculptures including the world’s tallest statue- “Statue of Unity” (183 m) of Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
- Arrangements were made to ensure that more than 35,000 locals from all 119 constituencies attend the ceremony of unveiling of Ambedkar statue with 300 people from each constituency.
- As many as 750 state-run Road Transport Coprporation buses were operated for the public.

About Dr. B.R Ambedkar
- Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was an Indian Economist, Social Reformer and Political Leader who served as the Minister of Law and Justice during the office of Jawaharlal Nehru.
- He was also appointed as the Chairman of the committee drafting the Constitution of India from the Constituent Assembly debates.
- Constituent Assembly appointed a Drafting Committee on 29th August 1947 and after the healthy debates on this, finally the draft was adopted on Nov. 26 1949. Dr. B.R Ambedkar is also considered as the “Father of the Indian Constitution.”
- Ambedkar became an orthodox anti-oppression advocate for Dalit community through his creative writings.
