Anjali Sharma conquer Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa: A girl from Himachal Pradesh, Anjali Sharma has recently conquered the tallest mountain of African continent Mount Kilimanjaro wearing Luanchari, a traditional dress of Himachal Pradesh. The Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur congratulates Anjali Sharma for her summit. She hails from Shahpur village of Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. She has become the first girl from India to scale Mount Kilimanjaro in Gaddi costume.

She has also conquered Hanuman Tibba and Pahar Deo with a height of 6001 height.

  • Anjali Sharma, a Himachal Pradesh girl has conquered Mount Kilimanjaro, tallest mountain peak in Africa. Anurag Thakur congratulated for her achievement.
  • In his message, Mr. Thakur said this record of hers has increased the respect for the culture of Himachal and further said that she makes proud of Himachal Pradesh culture all around the world.
  • Anjali Sharma is working to promote Gaddi culture on the peaks of the mountains.
  • She has also conquered Hanuman Tibba and Pahar Deo mountains.

About Mount Kilimanjaro

          • Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s tallest mountain and the world’s largest free-standings mountain (meaning not part of a mountain range) located in a Kilimanjaro region in Tanzania at an elevation 5,895 metres above the ground.
          • It is a type of Dormant Volcanoes and is made up of 3 volcanic cones: : 1) Kibo, 2) Mawenzi & 3) Shira.
          • Kibo is the tallest of the three volcanic formations which is also a dormant volcano while the two are extinct volcanoes.
          • The Kilimanjaro National park was named a “United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage site” in 1987. Anjali Sharma conquered Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa.
          • Volcanoes can be classified into 3 types based on their period of eruption:
          • Active Volcanoes: Those volcanoes that have a history of eruptions and likely to erupt again. Note: Barren Island (Andaman & Nicobar) is the only Active volcano in India.
          • Dormant volcanoes: These have not erupted for a very long time but may erupt at a future time.
          • Extinct volcanoes: These are not expected to erupt in the future.
