ICC Awards 2022 announced: The International Cricket Council (ICC) awards for the year 2022 have been recently announced. The ICC Awards 2022 will be the 18th edition of ICC Awards. The nominations took into account players’ performance between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2022. Indian players won the ICC Awards in respective categories. World No.1 T20I player Suryakumar Yadav has won the ICC Men’s T20I player of the Year 2022 while the Indian women’s team bowler Renuka Singh has won the ICC Women’s Emerging Player of the Year 2022. About Garfield Sobers Trophy

  • The Garfield Sobers Trophy is a cricket trophy that is awarded annually by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to the Best Cricketer of the Year.
  • The trophy is named after former West Indies cricket captain Sir Garfield Sobers.
  • First winner of the Garfield Sobers Trophy was Rahul Dravid in 2004.
  • At present, 4 Indians have been awarded with the trophy 1) Rahul Dravid (in 2004) 2) Sachin Tendulkar (in 2010) 3) R. Ashwin (in 2009) & 4) Virat Kohli (in 2017, 2018)
  • Babar Azam (Pakistan) is the current winner of the Garfield Sobers Trophy.
