Indira Gandhi Peace Prize 2022 Presented to COVID-19 Warriors

The honourable Indira Gandhi Harmony Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for the year 2022 was mutually awarded to the Indian Clinical Association (IMA) and Trained Nurses Association of India as representative of the COVID-19 warriors in the country. The award ceremony for this was held on November 19. Former Vice-President of India, Hamid Ansari presented the award to Sharad Kumar Agarwal, the President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Roy K George, the President of the Trained Nurses Association of India.

The honour represents a recognition for the determined endeavours of the Coronavirus heroes in India. Congress Parliamentary Party director Sonia Gandhi, who heads the Indira Gandhi Remembrance Trust, highlight and acknowledged the contribution of every doctors, nurse and supporting staff for their rigorous work and devotion despite the uncommon difficulties presented by the pandemic.

Indira Gandhi Peace Prize 2022 Presented to COVID-19 Warriors: About the Prize

  • The Indira Gandhi Prize, also known as Indira Gandhi Prize for peace, disarmament and development was instituted in the memory of the former Prime Minister by a trust (Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust) in her name in 1986.
  • It consists of a monetary award of Rs 25 Lakh along with a Citation.
  • The award given to honour women, men or institutions that have done exemplary work in the service of humanity and the planet earth, to recognize efforts in promoting International peace.
  • Note: The Indira Gandhi Peace Prize for the year 2021 was awarded to Pratham, one of the largest non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) in India.
