Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023: The Punjab team beats the Baroda team in a thrilling final match to clinch their maiden title here at the IS Bindra Stadium on Monday . The victory over Baroda is a testament to their talent, teamwork and dedication to the game. This was the sixteenth edition of the “Syed Mushtaq Ali 2023” played from 16 October to 6 November 2023.

The winning team will get Rs. 80 Lakhs jointly from the BCCI (Board of Crircket Control of India) and the PCA (Punjab Cricket Association).

  • Earlier, the Punjab team was asked to bat first after losing the toss. They showed some clinical performance and posted a score of 223 runs in their 20 overs quota.
  • The star batsman for Punjab side was Anmolpreet Singh who smacked a 58-ball ton and added 138 runs partnership for the fourth wicket with Nehal Wadhera who also scored a blisttering 61 runs in just 27 balls.
  • Chasing a huge target of 224 runs, Ninad Rathva and Abhimanyu Singh Rajput (61 off 42) had kept Baroda in the hunt, with its chase aided by four dropped catches by Punjab team.
  • The victory for Punjab was sealed in the last over when Arshdeep Singh took three crucial wickets of Baroda captain Krunal Pandya (45 off 32), Bhanu Pania & Shivalik Sharma.
