The ISRO will launch 36 OneWeb Satellites on Sunday: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Sunday will launch the second phase of “OneWeb India Mission” of 36 Satellites with its LVM3 M3 launch vehicle. In a statement made by the ISRO, the launch is scheduled for March 26 2023 at 9:00 hours IST from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Under a commercial agreement the New Space India Lt. (NSIL) had signed contract with OneWeb to launch 72 Satellites of UK-based company in two phases with a launch fee of over Rs.1,000 crore and place them in low-earth orbit. NSIL is the commercial wing of the ISRO.

With this launch, the UK-based Access Associates Ltd. will have more than 600 low earth-orbit satellite in space, offering broadband-internet space services from to all corners of the globe.

  • The Launch Vehicle Mark-3 previously referred as the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III  is a three-stage medium-lift launch vehicle developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation.
  • The NSIL, a commercial wing of the ISRO, will launch 72 satellites of UK company. The first set of 36 Satellites was launched on 23 October 2022 by LVM3 M2 launch vehicle.
  • The remaining 36 Satellites each weighing approximately 5805 kg will be placed in a 4505 circular low earth by the LVM3 M3 launch vehicle.
  • The LVM3 vehicle had five consecutive successful missions, including the Chandrayaan 2 mission.
